hello,
since an couple years i work on my version of an tactical pen. it should not only write long and always, upside down and on wet surface but also be durable made and if needed work as an self defense tool.
the long search for the best refill was ended with using the fisher space pen, they offer many different colors and ball sizes and are pressure loaded. the german competition, used in many other pens are only made in black and blue and only one choice of ball size.
my TacPen is made out of 75series aircraft grade aluminium and durable hardanodised. as the locking cap is covering the writing end, the opposite side end can be used as an stylus for hand help computers. this end can be used for stabbing motions. the opposite side, the cross section end of the locking cap can be pressed/twisted into soft skin/fleash and while overtwist cut an pcs of skin and blood out - as an dna sampler for the police.
the cap is featuring an stainless steel pocketclip with durable black coating and it has 2 dimples so the clip holds on the fabric on 2 parts instead of the usual one. it also has an hole for use with an lanyard over water or on the mtns etc so you cant loose it.
the barrel of the tacpen is secured by an rubber o ring so an unwanted disassembly is impossible. we also did alter the standart fisher refill and laminated an spring on each refill so the refill and spring are one unit and the tiny spring cant be lost, an common bad feature on normal pens.
the TacPen did travel so fare 3 times with me in an airplane, its possible and legal, but anybody do this on his own risk.
for save travel we did design an otter box, watertight, with 2 color closed cell foam that holds the pen and comes with 2 spare refills, usually an blue and an red one, the black is in the pen. its an clear otter box cause the custom or security point see first hand its an pen without open it. also the 2 color logo foam on the backside is clear to see.
the TacPen is currently made in some different single colors and some in splash multicolor to match with an swiss army knife etc.
